International Studies and World Languages VA Messages from the Principal

Welcome to International Studies and World Languages 2023 to 2024 school year. My name is Dr. Shilby Sims and as your principal, new to the school site, I am truly excited to be part of the virtual academy community. Our school is dedicated to providing high-quality education that prepares students for success in their future endeavors so they are ready for the world.

One of my main goals this year as your child's principal, is to assure our parents play a vital role as partners in your child's learning. There are a lot of exciting events and activities coming soon and I encourage our families to stay engaged and connected with our school community. With this in mind, I would like all parents to join our community in one or more of the following ways:

Make sure you are signed up and using Parent Portal
Sign up as a School Volunteer
Learn more about school committees such as SSC (School Leadership Council) or ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) and join as a school parent
Join our parent workshops, meetings and special events - these events will come directly to you by email, telephone and text message

Your involvement as a parent is very important to me as my background is includes to educational technology and parental involvement to name a few. This year as a school community we will work together to strengthen and enhance our team effort to support your child's academic and social emotional needs.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to our school staff for any thing you may need or any questions you may have regarding your child - one last reminder attending our school's parent meetings is a great time to learn and to receive answers to your questions.
